Simson Schwalbe

Es gibt wohl kaum ein Fahrzeug aus der Ex DDR, das man so oft auf unseren Straßen sieht wie die Schwalbe von Simson, inzwischen ein begehrtes Kultmoped, äußerst robust und zuverlässig. Die Teileversorgung ist optimal und die Preise für Ersatzteile sind moderat und ein gutes Beispiel dem andere Hersteller folgen sollten. Der Zusammenbruch der ostdeutschen Zweiradindustrie stimmt mich auch als Wessi immer noch traurig, grandioses Ingenieurwissen ist mit untergegangen, ein Jammer.

Eine Schwalbe ist einfach und logisch aufgebaut und notfalls kann man sie, wenn es regnet unter einer Autobahnbrücke wieder fit machen. Diese Schwalbe vom Typ: KR 51 / 1 wurde mir in Teilen geliefert, alle Blechteile waren bereits lackiert, alles wurde geprüft, verschlissene und schadhafte Teile erneuert.

Als alles fertig war, sprang der Motor auf den ersten Tritt an, nahm gut Gas an und tuckerte ruhig im Standgas vor sich hin.

There is hardly a vehicle from the former GDR that you see so often on our roads as Simson's swallow, now a popular cult moped, extremely robust and reliable.
The parts supply is optimal and the prices for spare parts are moderate and a good example that other manufacturers should follow. The collapse of the East German two-wheeler industry still makes me sad, even as a Wessi, great engineering knowledge disappeared with it, a shame.

A swallow has a simple and logical structure and if necessary you can make it fit again when it rains under a highway bridge. This swallow model KR 51 / 1 came to me in parts, all sheet metal parts were already painted, everything was checked, worn and damaged parts were replaced.

When all work was done, the engine started at the first kick, responded on the throttle immediately and chugged quietly in idle.

The East Germans call the West Germans “Wessis” and Schwalbe is the bird swallow.
