MARUSHO die etwas andere "BMW"

Marusho, Mr. Ito

MARUSHO the a little different "BMW"

Marusho, Mr Ito

In the 1950s and 1960s, there were innumerable motorcycle manufacturers in Japan e.g. Bridgestone who is today the world famous tire manufacturer or Olympus, now a well-known camera producer and many others.

There was also a Mr. Ito who built models according to BMW and Victoria samples in Tokyo, his brands were Marusho and Lilac, BMW served as a sample for the Marusho models and the Victoria Bergmeister for the Lilac motorbikes, at all, Mr. Ito built exclusively motorcycles with shaft drive.

The main customers for Marusho / Lilac motorcycles were the USA and Australia.

Marusho 500 Magnum Electra

Unmistakable is the BMW pattern, the Marusho was already a bit more modern than its paragon the BMW R 50, it already had an electric starter, a small oil cooler and a telescopic front fork.

I bought my Marusho in California and restored it for a Japanese customer, many BMW engine parts were used, so the spare parts question was no problem at all.

BMW flat twin / 2 valve models and K models until model year 2000 I restore with original BMW or OEM parts.
